Movies, music and more…

Now that the Oscar nominees have been announced, it’s time to go see a lot of movies. As I explained in my previous post, I try to watch as many Oscar-nominated movies as humanly possible before the Oscar telecast. That has sometimes meant nearly 40 movies in less than a month. |
This year’s list is much more manageable. There are 36 nominated movies (not including shorts), and I’ve already seen 12 of them.
Here’s what I’ll see and how:

That breaks down to 12 movies to see in the theater, 5 to see on DVD, and 6 I have no effing idea how I’m going to find.
By the way, I am not a movie industry insider, so none of these will be sent to my home on DVD for my consideration. I’ll be paying full price at the theater or buying the DVD (with any luck, on BluRay).
If you have any leads on how to see the NFI movies (those marked with ?), please share!

You might want to try Kensington Video or the indie rental place in South Park (name escapes me) for the foreign flicks. Unfortunately, Departures last U.S. screening was at the Palm Springs Festival earlier this month and I’m assuming it’s not out on DVD yet, or I’d point you in the direction of the Asian video stores in Kearny Mesa.
